they said hangus, he said garing
a sweet attempt by my hubby to defend his beloved wife. ;)
i know and majority of my family members plus some frens also know that i am way worse than my siblings in terms of cooking. people inevitably start to compare when they know my siblings are professional cook (elder bro) and trained partry chef (younger sis) and parents are running food business while i seem to be terkluar ring and know zilch about cooking! alryte, let's leave it at that.
u know, as much as i don't know how to cook, i do try to learn ok.. firstly, for beginners like me, i start with instants. hehe. hey at least it gives me the chance to explore recipes and be confident in the kitchen.
one thing i am still learning is to judge whether the food that i'm frying is cooked enough or not. most of the time, i misjudged, and ended up over- cooking. sometimes it must have been the lighting or the heat. (trying to find excuses.. hehe)
but there was once when i was supposed to goreng epok2 to bring over to hubby's aunt's place for iftar. I really tot it was going to be chicken mcnugget punyelah, manageble as they are all instants.. i would only have to observe the heat and kacau sikit2.. so goreng punye goreng, trying hard to judge for myself whether it's time to scoop up, i decided to give more time to fry as it still did not look 'golden brown' as they say it.
second and third time, still looked very mentah.. and the fourth time i saw it turning brown and it was time to scoop up. so kire happy jugak ah sebab dah boleh judge..
skali when we got to the aunt's place, the relatives were asking who brought the epok2 and hubby immediately responded that it was me as though he was proud that i 'cooked' it. but to my surprise, everybody thought it was a bit too hangus. aiseyman paisey man... hehe
but it was so sweet that hubby interfered and said it was actually garing and that he liked it that way. i know he was just trying to make me feel better. i was deeply touched and just smiled. thanks for being supportive dear. :)
