easier way out?
have you heard of d latest suicide of the cfo of US mortgage firm?
i guess that goes to show how a person, even possibly having everything in life, could resort to ending his chapter in life in 'su'ul khatimah'. i feel very distubed to read strings of news telling tragic stories of people who just could not find other options to resolve their issues as they were being pushed to the corner and saw the only easier way out was death.
death is an unprecedented event. to me death is as important event as birth. in fact, the former carries more importance than the latter as it is the beginning of eternity in the Hereafter which is what we have to work for in dunya. even so, as human, we tend to forget that. rather than being grateful for the nikmats of having provided with air, water, shelter for me to perform ibadah in the best of state, so that i am guarantedd of better akhirah, sometimes we keep asking ourselves: why Allah grants the wishes of the unbelievers' and seems to not grant the doa of the believers. it is as if the doa of the Muslims are not granted and not heard by Him.
there are actually two reasons on why Allah grants the prayers and wishes fast. the first, is because Allah loves thoses who made the doa'. the second reason, is because Allah is angry with them. to those that Allah is angry with, He will sometimes give these people more providence, wealth. This will make those people more complacent, careless and forgetful. and when they least suspect it, Allah will take away their lives. And they will die in a very bad state the su'ul khatimah. this is what the Ulama termed as "Istidraj".
Allah states in Surah Al-An'am, verse 44:
"So, when they forgot the warning with which they had been reminded, We opened for them the gates of every pleasant things, until in the midst of their enjoyment in that which they were given, all of a sudden We took them. They were plunged into destruction with deep regrets and sorrows."
This is intended to be a reminder for myself to always express syukur, verily, He is the owner of everything. and everything that happens it is with His permission.
"Alluhumma khtimlana bihusnil khatimah, wa la takhtimlana bisuu il khatimah. Amin."
